Trézor Suite® | Starting Up Your Device

Step 1: Visit Trezor.io/Start

To begin, connect your Trézor hardware wallet to your computer via the included USB cable. Then, visit https://trezor.io/start, the official starting point for all device setups. Always ensure you are on the correct domain before proceeding.

        ⚠️ Always verify the URL before proceeding. Fake websites may attempt to steal your recovery seed.
      

Step 2: Download & Install Trézor Suite

Trézor Suite is the official desktop application designed to help you manage your crypto securely. It's available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Download Trézor Suite from the official site.
Install the application by following on-screen prompts.
Open the app and connect your device.

Upon connection, the app will recognize your device and prompt you to continue the setup.

Step 3: Create a New Wallet or Recover One

You will be given the option to either create a new wallet or restore an existing one using a recovery seed. If you're new:

Click “Create New Wallet”.
Follow the prompts to initialize your secure seed phrase.

If you're restoring a wallet, select "Recover Wallet" and carefully input your 12, 18, or 24-word seed using the secure interface.

Step 4: Back Up Your Recovery Seed

Trézor will now generate your wallet’s most important component — the recovery seed. This is a list of 12–24 unique words used to recover your account if your device is lost or damaged.

Write it down by hand on the provided recovery card.
Never save it as a photo, text file, or cloud note.
Store your card in a secure, offline location.

        🔐 Treat your recovery seed as your digital safe key. Anyone with it can access your assets.
      

Step 5: Install Firmware Updates

Before your Trézor device becomes fully functional, you may need to update its firmware. This ensures you’re running the latest version with all security enhancements.

Allow Trézor Suite to check for firmware updates.
Follow prompts on your computer and device screen.
Do not disconnect the device until updates finish.

Firmware updates are cryptographically signed and verified for your safety.

Step 6: Add & Manage Crypto Assets

Now that your device is fully initialized, it’s time to add your favorite crypto assets. Trézor Suite supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, and hundreds of other coins and tokens.

Select the asset you wish to manage.
Click “Receive” to generate a wallet address.
Send funds from your exchange or wallet to that address.

To send crypto, input the recipient’s address, confirm the amount, and approve the transaction using your device’s screen.

Step 7: Advanced Security Tips

Take your account protection to the next level:

Enable PIN protection to prevent unauthorized access to the device.
Use a passphrase (an optional 25th word) to create hidden wallets.
Consider a metal seed backup (like Cryptosteel) for durability.
Only enter your seed on the device, never on your computer.

        🧠 Remember: A strong passphrase should be memorable to you but impossible to guess by others. If lost, it cannot be recovered.
